Try-It-Tuesday: Donkeys. Elephants. Turkeys?

In honor of Election Day I want to talk... turkey. It may be Election Day today, but I want to talk about turkey. Turkey sausages, that is.
Last week I was in the mood for some Italian sausage with peppers and onions, but I didn't want all the bad cholesterol, calories and fat from a regular Italian sausage. I searched the meat counter at Publix for some TURKEY Italian sausages. The Jennie-O turkey sweet Italian sausages were full of all that sausage flavor without most of the grease and artery-clogging stuff your doctor has warned you about.
I cooked the sausages in the pan, sliced 'em up, added a few green peppers, onions and a bit of tomato sauce. I served the concoction over whole wheat penne. Yummy.
Head on over to Mrs. Who's blog and see what else people are trying while not in line to make their vote count!!

That sounds yummy! :)

Thanks for visiting my blog today, btw!

I also noticed that you are a pastor's wife. Me too! :) How funny is that?

I have GOT to start eating healthier and this might be one way to do that. I had always thought turkey sausage would be dry. But it sounds good!

Sounds good. I will have to try it. I never liked the ground turkey my mom would buy but maybe this will be better.

Caring for Alli these days, I need some quick, cheap meals that still aren't bad for you and count as homemade. Got any ideas?

The super extra lean Jennie-O ground turkey was BOGO at my store so I bought two packages. I "browned" (it only became white) some last night. I felt virtuous eating it, knowing it was practically fat free, but I think I prefer the flavor of the slightly fattier ground turkey that Jennie-O makes.

I'll give the sausages a whirle!
