M&M Prayer

Before the boys go to bed we try to have a bit of quiet time with them. My husband usually reads to them and then they have some prayer time and maybe a Jesus song or two.

We call one of our favorite prayer starters the, "M&M Prayer." Here's how it works. We sit in a circle and I give each person one M&M. (Don't eat it yet!) Then we bow our heads and each person has a turn to thank God for something that is the same color as the M&M they have. (Now you can eat it.)
When the children were very young the prayers were very simple, "Thank you, God, for the sun." Now that they are a bit older the M&M helps get their turn in the prayer circle started as they start with the M&M and move on to praise and prayer requests.

Oh my goodnes, oh my goodness! As if I needed a reason to want to eat more M&M's but I LOVE the thoughtfulness and prayerfulness of this idea!

Found you via Laura at CTM, am adding you to my faves!

Thanks for the prayer idea! My toddler LOVES M&M's. They are our primo potty prize. I love the idea of doing a family prayer with his beloved "lemonems."

What a great idea! I'm always looking for some way to spice up bedtime prayers. They always become so trite and memorized if I don't keep mixing it up. The kids will flip when they realize I'm passing out candy!

I'm so happy to meet another pastor's wife! I look forward to reading more of your blog. Love this m&m idea. When our kids were young, we had a regular bedtime routine too. Each kid took turns choosing the order in which everyone else would pray each night. For some reason, they loved choosing the order. Go figure, lol! Loved the comment about remembering the website but forgetting to flush. I can so relate!
