Settling In...

We're settling in. We have found the Target and the Publix. We've played in the beach (South Beach, at that!) and two different playgrounds. I've driven to the boys' school to see if I could find it. (It takes about 30 minutes to get there, even though it isn't that far away.) I've driven on the freeway down here and despite getting cut off by a police man I think we survived. (The whole "monkey bus" cheered when I crossed four lanes of traffic in less than a mile to make it to the Dunkin' Donuts exit!)

The church is just fine. They've been very generous to us and have helped us move in. Chris was installed last Sunday and the service was nice. We were blessed that an old pastor friend was able to come down and do the sermon for the service. It was nice to see a familiar face. The parsonage is lovely and it is about twice the house we used to have. While I'm loving all the neat little details of this house (hardwood floors, huge master closet, gigantic kitchen, and hot tub in the Florida room) it just occurred to me that it will be twice the effort to keep clean!!
The yard is huge and full of all sorts of tropical fruit trees.. so I can use any recipes for mangoes and avocados. It is also full of all sorts of new and exciting creatures from crab spiders and locusts to lizards and iguanas.
The boys are enjoying the extra spaces to play and Aaron loves that he doesn't have to share his bedroom anymore. They've enjoyed riding their bikes and scooters in the church parking lot. We have to wait until just about bedtime to ride bikes, though, because it is so warm during the day.

Well, I'm off to break down another box...

I've had fun reading your blog as I'm a fellow SC teacher! But I guess you're not in SC anymore :)

Glad you like your new home!

Let me dig out a couple of mango recipes. The only avocado one I know is guacamole. I'll post that for you this week, if I remember.

Congratulations on your move! Sounds great! So glad you found Publix and the beach- your priorities are in order! :)

I guess you are in the Miami area since you went to South Beach? We lived on the West coast, by Sarasota.

I wish I were there to eat some avocado with you- one of my favorite foods. I put it in wraps with the turkey or chicken, and in green salads. I have seen people put a little selling stand in their yards to sell mangos and avocados- fresher and cheaper than the grocery.

Keep us posted on how you are!

Glad to hear you're all settled in. I must appologize I have not been to visit your blog for a while.

I would like to thank you for your kind words today in my blog. I found myself getting teary-eyed. When I read things like that, I wish I was more religious. I haven't quite found my way yet, but it does make me feel better to read words like that.

I'm glad you got to hold your baby too. I think I forgot to mention in my blog that while my daughter was 26 weeks gestation, she was the size of a 20 week baby. But, wow, the detail.... She had this little button nose, and a little dimple on her chin, just like her daddy. She had long legs and very thin fingers, like her mommy (even though I'm not very tall, I was all legs when I was younger!)

Thank you. And I hope you enjoy your new home. The water at the beach looks so refreshing. I'm craving to go swimming!

Hi I love you pictures. I am on lesson 3 of eight to learn braille. It is really easy so far! I learnt the braille alphabet in two days. I always love to learn , gives me something to do with summers off, and it will help my resume as an educational assistant.

The new house sounds wonderful! Maybe a miraculous shortcut will present itself, making that trip to school shorter. I love the beach pics of the boys! The setting looks just like on TV!! Thanks for your encouraging words about preschool. It means more than you know.

Hey Judy! I am wishing for some Judy-time right now! I am not envious of the new heat you've found (not that it isn't scorching here), but I am envious of the TARGET (ofcourse), two playgrounds, and the hot tub. I love the pictures of the boys. I hope you are well, your BLOG entry wasn't as perky as I know you to be. Don't worry, you'll be making new friends soon and telling stories about "your friend Joy from South Carolina", I know you will! If all else fails, email me and I'll give you a call. Miss you! The boys say hi to your boys!

You are doing so well, found all the important places! We've moved a few times with our boys, they are so adaptable and God will provide everything you all need. Glad things are going along as they should. A few boxes a day and you'll have it all done soon.

Love the pics of my boys! So does Chris always wear that in church? A little different from the shorts & tshirt we're used to seeing!
Bug prays for you guys every day, naming each one, but usually forgets Chris. Don't worry though, I squeeze him in before she says Amen! Love you guys!
